International Requirement Committee
Mission
The International Requirements Committee (IRC) meets periodically during Fall and Spring semesters to solicit, select and review courses submitted by academic departments and faculty members for meeting the international requirement that all students entering the University of Utah in Fall 2007 and later must fulfill. The committee will review the application submitted to the committee and decide if the course meets specified criteria concerning course content and desired student outcomes. If so, the IRC will refer the course to Undergraduate Council for final approval. If a course is not approved, the committee will also make suggestions for modifying the course to meet the IR course content criteria and desired student outcomes. The IRC will also periodically review IR-designated courses to ensure they continue to meet the specified criteria, and will review and approve (or disapprove) individual student petitions for IR waiver based on courses taken at another university or completion of non-University of Utah Study Abroad programs.
