Mission
The International Exchange Committee (IEC) has two main responsibilities:
1) It regulates the process of developing and implementing new international exchange agreements and study abroad programs.
2) It promotes exchange and study abroad programs among students and faculty throughout the University.
To discharge the first responsibility, the committee establishes procedures for developing new exchange agreements and study abroad programs, reviews new agreement and program proposals, and makes recommendations to appropriate University administrations officials on their adoption. The committee also periodically reviews existing agreements and programs and recommends continuation or termination based on benefits provided to the University.
To accomplish the second goal, committee members from different colleges and schools share information on existing and planned programs, best practices, and other pertinent information to facilitate awareness of exchange and study abroad programs among faculty and students and to emphasize the benefits of these programs to individual students and faculty members, departments, colleges, and the University as a whole. Additionally, the committee awards Study Abroad Development Grants to faculty members to assist in developing new exchange and study abroad programs.
